Parked on footpath

Postby justiceneeded » Thu Aug 22, 2019 11:50 pm

I was recently fined for stopping on a footpath whilst delivering goods. I had to unload quite a bit of furniture at a house and as it was bin day I didn't want to park on the road which could obstruct the garbos. I backed into the driveway as far as I could and being a new estate the driveway was tiny. My van hung over the footpath a little. I beleive my tyres may have been just touching the footpath (I didn't see the ticket straight away so unsure).

I wrote the council explaining bin day etc but they were not swayed. Is this worth contesting? How can i safely unload in a small driveway on bin day?
