I have heard that court imposed fines go back to Fines Victoria now for collection...
If the matter was heard ex-parte, would the court not send any communication of the decision?
Also, does anyone know if Fines Vic still has a massive backlog?

After a sentencing hearing you will eventually receive a notice of the fine from Fines Victoria.
There is nothing you need to do until you receive that notice.
There is nothing you can do until you receive that notice.
If the court does not have your correct address you probably won't receive the notice.
No one knows how long it will take for you to receive the notice. Could be days or could be years.
When you get the notice you can then think about whether to pay it, put it on an instalment plan, or ignore it and hope they don't tow your car. You can appeal it if you lodge the appeal within 28 days of the sentencing date.
